Succeed the Throne

Well my favorite designer, Hedi Slimane, has been fired as Creative Director of Dior. I don't know if anyone is as excited, and simultaneously horrified, with the news as I am. Hedi's silhouettes have no inspired me and it would be interesting to see how the successor, Kris Van Assche, will steer the Dior Homme line.

I am excited to see what's in store for Hedi... Perhaps his own label, or even go low-budget and maybe design a line for H&M or Target. That seems like the "hip" thing to do these days. It might be the first time I ever step into an H&M if it happens. This also gives me a reason to go to Dior Homme and buy some stuff that will no doubt will be discontinued. I wonder if LVMH will still release S/S08 by Slimane because no doubt in my mind he's been working on it... Probably already started production on some pieces at this time of the season. Not excited about the price. I've been paying wholesale for most my clothes for about a year now, and it looks like I'm going to have to cough up retail (higher-end as well) for some new jeans, some new sunglasses, and maybe even a new wallet. I need to get a fashion suit before they discontinue it as well...

On more important news, we have the media again trying to put the blame on violent media for the massacre at Virginia Tech. They said that the korean crazy boy simulated his killing spree while playing Grand Theft Auto (Shouldn't he be playing Starcraft, anyway?). Nevermind the fact that he was a writer and his personality of violence showed in his work. Nevermind the fact that he was probably crazy to begin with and that violent mediums only affect people that really shouldn't have access to them anyway.

Stop trying to pin the blame on other things and start looking at ourselves. The overtly slow response of campus police no doubt had a part in this tragedy. Are you guys fucking stupid out there? There's a gunman on the loose, and you pay it no mind... "Wow" is pretty much the only thing that comes to mind. Here we have an event that if more aggressive action was taken, more lives could've been saved. But what's done is done and our hearts go out to the families of the students of Virginia Tech.

No White After Labor Day

Black is my favorite color, but I've got a new baby in town. Thanks to whatshisname from Your Swedish Luxury, I get to test out this uber board with replaceable tips. Now if only I remember where I put those extra tips...
